About Waikato Rivertones Chorus

We are a group of women from all over the Waikato who love to sing in four-part harmony.

We are members of SingUnited International (formerly known as Sweet Adelines International), a worldwide organisation committed to advancing the musical art-form of barbershop harmony through educational programmes and performances.

SingUnited International promotes friendship and a sense of belonging among women of all ages, races and ethnic backgrounds, making it one of the most welcoming and empowering organisations to be found, connecting thousands of singers worldwide through song.

The Waikato Rivertones Chorus has been a chapter of Region 35 since 1995 and currently has around 40 members from Hamilton and the surrounding districts.

We have been the Champion New Zealand Chorus on numerous occasions and have represented NZ on the International stage six times, most recently in Kentucky in October 2023.

We are all ages, from youth members in their early 20's to over 70's.  We are students, teachers, doctors, nurses, farmers, at-home mums and business professionals, retired women and just-starting-work women.

We sing because we love it and we perform in our own shows and for corporate, community and private events, as well as working hard to compete against the world’s best and constantly improving our craft.

We can perform for you – and you can join us. You can follow us on Facebook or sign up to become a Friend of the Waikato Rivertones and receive regular email updates about our happenings and how you can be involved.

After 80 years as Sweet Adelines International, we’re singing into a new chapter as SingUnited International.

We’re singers united—bringing connection, friendship, and music to the world!

New Name. Same Harmony. Same Heart!
